Maria Angela Silva, 97, of Peabody, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 21, 2026, at Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of the late Francisco Silva, with whom she shared 62 years of marriage.
Maria was a loving wife, devoted mother and grandmother, cherished sister, treasured friend, and wonderful mother-in-law who will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
As a young girl, Maria was a talented singer and actress who starred in live stage productions in her hometown. She treasured those memories throughout her life and carried with her a lifelong love of music, reading, history, mathematics, and medicine.
Maria dedicated many years to Alpha Industries in Woburn, Massachusetts, where she became highly skilled in the assembly of intricate gold-coated microchips. Her precision, patience, and unmatched expertise earned her tremendous respect and recognition throughout the company and helped save millions of dollars in government contracts.
She found happiness in life’s simple pleasures, including coffee gatherings with her beloved “in-crowd” at the round table, where she was affectionately known as “the Queen.” Maria was also known for baking her cherished Easter sweet bread, a treasured family tradition eagerly anticipated every year by family and friends.
Maria loved spending time with her family, sharing stories, laughter, and memories from throughout her remarkable life. She remained fiercely independent well into her 90s, taking long walks around town with her walker despite the worries of her family. She especially enjoyed family celebrations and gatherings, often accessorizing with her favorite scarves, hats, and brooches, earning her the loving nickname of “fashionista.”
A devoted woman of faith, Maria was a longtime member of Our Lady of Fatima Church in Peabody, where she joyfully sang in the choir and faithfully served her church community. She prayed the rosary daily and consistently prayed for her family and loved ones, often ending conversations with heartfelt blessings and words of love.
Maria will be remembered as vivacious, strong-willed, funny, quick-witted, passionate, selfless, and deeply loving. Her beautiful voice, radiant spirit, unwavering faith, and devotion to family left a lasting impact on everyone fortunate enough to know her.
Maria is survived by her six loving children, Frank Silva and wife Janet of Reading, Jose Silva of Peabody, Dolores Silva of Florida, Tony Silva and wife Chrystal of Bradford, Al Silva, and Maria Klussmann and her husband Paul of Webster, New Hampshire. She also leaves behind eighteen grandchildren, Lydia, Stephanie, Francisco, Joey, Paul, Max, Sofia, Christina, George, Anthony, James, Nick, Angelo, Katelyn, Christie, Robert, Eric, and Desiree; twenty-seven great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; four siblings, Fatima, Manuela, John and Emelio; many nieces, nephews, cousins; her dear friend Madalena; and many other friends.
In addition to her husband Francisco, Maria was predeceased by her beloved grandson Tommy James; her siblings Manuel, Percopio, and Constancia; and her daughter-in-law and close friend Terry Fougere-Silva.
Family and friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Thursday, May 28, 2026 from 10AM to 12PM followed by a Funeral Service at 12PM in Peabody, Massachusetts. Burial will be held privately.
