Melanie Pabisz, 69, of Wenham, formerly of Peabody, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 26, 2026 at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers surrounded by her loving family after a courageous 12-year battle with stage 4 breast cancer.
She was the beloved companion of the late Glenn Soucy, with whom she shared many cherished memories until his passing in 2002.
Born in Salem, Massachusetts, Melanie was the cherished daughter of the late Edward and Mary (Zastowsky) Pabisz.
Melanie was raised in Peabody and attended Peabody Public Schools, graduating from Peabody Veterans Memorial High School in 1974. Throughout her working career she held several positions, including sales associate at Ann & Hope, work in the art department at Salem Evening News, and medical coding at Essex Radiological.
She was a talented pianist, devoted bird watcher, and lifelong cat lover. Most of all, Melanie treasured spending time with her son and his family, especially her beloved grandchildren.
Melanie is survived by her son, David Pabisz and his wife Michelle of Danvers; her three grandchildren, Joshua, Maggie, and Allie Pabisz, all of Danvers; her brother, John Pabisz and his wife Beth of Vista, California; her sisters, Suzanne Slack of Danvers and Mary Jane Pabisz of Peabody; her aunt, Emelia Zastowsky of Peabody; and many loving nieces, cousins, and friends.
In addition to her parents and her beloved companion Glenn, Melanie was predeceased by her brothers, Franklin and Henry Pabisz.
Family and friends are cordially invited to attend visiting hours on Monday, June 1, 2026 from 9:30AM to 11AM in Peabody, Massachusetts followed by a Funeral Mass at St. Ann’s Church in Peabody. Interment will follow at Cedar Grove Cemetery in Peabody.
