Michael T. Lynch Obituary

Michael “Mike” Lynch is remembered as a kind, warm, adventurous, and deeply loving man whose presence made the world around him better. He leaves behind his loving wife of 37 years, Gail Bouchard Lynch, his children Brendan Lynch, Kenneth Lynch, Jennifer Lynch, and Catherine Sanchez, along with his much-loved grandchildren Sophia Lynch, Jameson Lynch, Adalina Sanchez, and Zack Sanchez.

Mike was born on September 7, 1944, in Manhattan, New York. He grew up in Queens and spent many happy summers in Wading River on Long Island. After graduating from Power Memorial High School in Manhattan, he attended Saint Michael’s College in Santa Fe, New Mexico where he earned a degree in Business.

While at Saint Michael’s College, Mike was active in campus life. He was a member of Gamma Theta Phi fraternity, was elected senior class treasurer, served on the student council, and sang with the Singing Knights Choral group. A year after graduation, Mike joined the United States Marine Corps and proudly served from 1966 to 1971.

Throughout his professional life, Mike worked in finance and accounting. He spent his career working with corporations and later consulting with small businesses, helping them build sound business practices that allowed them to grow and succeed.

A Life Filled with Family, Travel, Animals, and Adventure

The Michael T. Lynch obituary reflects a life full of love, service, curiosity, and compassion. Mike loved animals of all kinds and volunteered for more than 10 years with the Merrimack River Feline Rescue Society. During his time there, he helped implement the organization’s first online fundraising platform, fed feral cats, collected donation cans, assisted with trapping lost cats, and helped wherever he was needed.

His love for animals also brought several beloved cats into his life, including Casper, Munchkin, Jenny, Butch, Jessie, and Zoe. Mike’s care for animals showed the same kindness and patience that family and friends saw in him every day.

Mike also had a deep love for the outdoors. Together with Gail, family, and friends, he enjoyed hiking, kayaking, traveling, and exploring the world around him. He and Gail visited more than 100 national parks and fell in love with Moab, Utah, where they purchased a second home and returned often to explore the red rock canyons and natural beauty of the area.

Mention the word travel, and Mike was ready to go. He loved visiting new places and had a special affection for Italy, the Czech Republic, Iceland, and the many beautiful landscapes of the United States. His curiosity, enthusiasm, and sense of adventure made every trip meaningful.

At home, Mike enjoyed working in his vegetable garden and spending time in the kitchen. He loved cooking for those he cared about, often experimenting with new dishes with a glass of red wine nearby. Making bread became one of his special passions, and his meals were another way he shared love with family and friends.

Remembering Michael T. Lynch

Mike’s kindness and gentle strength made people feel welcome, comfortable, and safe. He had a smile and greeting for everyone he passed, and his laughter carried a joy that made others smile along with him. His life was measured not only by the places he traveled or the work he did, but by the warmth he shared with others and the lasting impact he had on the people who loved him.

Friends, family, and all who knew Mike will remember his love for Gail, his devotion to his children and grandchildren, his service as a Marine, his compassion for animals, and his joy in exploring the world. The world was a kinder and better place because Michael T. Lynch shared it with us.
